Jackie Gundrum and Katie Marquart run the office at Meadowlawn.

Chances are, if you’re a parent with a child at Meadowlawn Intermediate School, you’ve talked with Jackie Gundrum and Katie Marquart. They’re the voices on the other end of the phone when you call to report a sick child or have a question for Principal Jeremy Hiser.

Mrs. Gundrum is the Perkins Local School District’s longest-serving employee with 39 years. She has had nearly every non-teaching job in the district, including bus driver, cafeteria cook and cashier, and paraprofessional. She has been Meadowlawn’s building secretary for 12 years.

“I love what I do,” Mrs. Gundrum said. “I love the kids, the staff, and the parents… We have had our moments, but a good joke always helps.”

And, indeed, Mrs. Marquart knows Mrs. Gundrum’s bellowing laughs better than anyone. Mrs. Marquart is the other half of the secretarial team at Meadowlawn. She’s been with the district for five years, first as a paraprofessional and for the past three years as a secretary at Meadowlawn.

“I just love the kiddos,” said Mrs. Marquart, who has a daughter in 5th Grade at Meadowlawn.

Mrs. Gundrum and Mrs. Marquart are in the office every day, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you need to report your child absent, call (419) 625-0214.
